PURCHASING POWER:
Toyota Motors in Southern California has chosen to purchase all of the electricity for its California operations from 100 percent renewable sources. The 38 million kilowatt- hours used by U.S headquarters in Torrance, as well as facilities in Irvine and Ontario, make Toyota the world's largest single user of 100 percent renewable power. Toyota's cool power purchase was made possible by California's deregulation of its electric utility industry. Toyota's willingness to pay a bit more for energy reducing emissions is the strongest signal of the seriousness with which it takes global warming.
